How we manage each project - timeline

1. Initial Meeting

Our ultimate goal is for J&S to build your deck. However, we do not want you to feel pressured, nor will we bombard you with sales pitches. We simply want the opportunity to present ourselves and our services. We want you to feel completely comfortable with us as people and be 100 percent confident in our ability to build the custom deck you always wanted. The initial meeting with J&S Decks will lay the foundation for a successful custom deck project. Typically the meeting will last between 45-90 minutes during which we will:

  • Determine Your Vision. We need to know what your initial thoughts on the project are. Every job is unique; your personal ideas, goals, likes, and dislikes will steer the direction of your project. Unsure of what you want? We know what questions to ask to get your creative juices flowing. We will identify your needs and discuss design features to address them.
  • Provide Information. The decking industry is constantly changing. With huge advancements being made each year, we believe it's important for you to be up to date and understand the technology behind the materials available. As high-end deck builders we refuse to recommend any material that falls short of our own expectations.
  • Make Recommendations. Based on our professional experience and knowledge we will make suggestions incorporating your ideas and vision. We know what works in the field and will help you to make sound decisions about your custom project.
  • Discuss Budget. In the current economic climate it is important for you to have a budget. Our job is to either design a project to meet that budget or inform you on the type of investment you can expect to make. Although sometimes difficult, we feel an open and honest discussion about your budget and project cost will build an important level of trust between us.

It would have been much easier for Jon and Scott to have never mentioned the color mismatch, but they did the right thing, advocating for their customer and getting the job done right.
